The Eyewear Spotlight: Must-Have Retro Shades from the 50's
Cut the gas! Have 1950’s trends and styles really come back in full swing? You bet your bottom dollar they have, and there is no time like the present to take a blast to the past. The 1950s shows itself best this year through high-waist, pin-up girl style swimsuits, cupcake skirts and bright red lipstick. Although, one of our favorite ‘50s styles making a second appearance comes to us in the form of fabulous retro sunglasses!
Cat’s Eye Style – Meooow! Enjoy these frames in a classic sleek black color, or spice them up with a sassy print. Even better, bring in a little touch of 2012 and go for a warm orange pair. Any way you choose, these sunglasses are sure to make a statement.
Aviators – Although these glasses have made multiple comebacks (Top Gun anyone?), Aviators first became a popular item in the late 50’s and early 60’s. Originally a hit among men in particular, in 2012 men and women alike find these retro frames a perfect accessory for a variety of outfits. This year, you’ll see some new twists that deviate from the classic metal frame. Fashion designers, such as Michael Kors, for example, have incorporated bright neon colors and even a little print to these fancy glasses. Looks like our clothes may just become an accessory to our sunwear!
Ray Ban Wayfarers – Another big hit in the 1950’s, Ray Ban Wayfarers have also gained considerable popularity recently. True to the trends of 2012, you can find these frames in a variety of colors and patterns to match any outfit. Don’t want to go for a really bold look? You can also find sunwear like Ray Ban this year with a plain black design on the front and a flare of color on the inside temple. Sounds smokin’!
All of these frames and more are available at a Nationwide Vision Center near you!
