We’re excited to welcome Dr. Daniel Peters to the Nationwide Vision Centers family! Here’s an excerpt from our recent press release with more of the details.
Phoenix, Ariz. — June 2012 — Nationwide Vision Centers – Arizona’s largest provider of vision care services with 64 locations statewide – has expanded its surgical team and treatment options with the addition of refractive and ophthalmic surgeon Daniel Peters, M.D.
Dr. Peters is a board-certified ophthalmologist with more than 20 years of clinical, research and ophthalmic surgical experience. Upon completing his ophthalmology residency in 1991, he served as Chief of Ophthalmology at Fairchild Air Force Base near Spokane, Washington. After leaving the military for private practice in 1995, he was a co-investigator for the clinical trial that won final US FDA approval for LASIK. To date, he has performed more than 30,000 LASIK and PRK procedures, and has received several US patents for ophthalmic laser devices.
In addition to specializing in LASIK, Dr. Peters has utilized the latest FDA approved multi-focal and accommodative lenses since the late 1990s. Since 2007, he has also used the Visian ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) approved for treating moderate to severe nearsightedness.
Dr. Peters uses the ICL to provide patients with superior vision, even for those deemed poor candidates for LASIK due to high prescriptions, thin corneas and/or other vision disorders.
“It is an honor to be able to bring these modern and exciting vision restoration technologies to Nationwide Vision Centers and patients here in the great state of Arizona,” said Dr. Peters.
“It took a yearlong nationwide search to find someone of Dr. Peter’s caliber to fill such a critical role at our Laser & Medical Eye Center,” said Nationwide Vision President Al Bernstein. “We are absolutely thrilled to have him with us. His level of knowledge, expertise, and professionalism is the standard of our philosophy when it comes to our doctors. He is amazing with patients and a great asset to our organization.”
Dr. Peters will see patients at Nationwide Vision’s Phoenix and Mesa treatment centers, where he utilizes the advanced UBM (ultrasound biomicroscopy) technology. Nationwide Vision is one of the first vision surgery providers in Arizona to invest in UBM, which measures the eye and helps customize treatment with unparalleled precision.
